Interview with Okalik Eegeesiak, Inuit Circumpolar Council Chair
Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) Chair Okalik Eegeesiak was visiting Pond Inlet during our time there to talk with locals about the North Water Polynea. The ICC are working to save the North Water Polynya, the largest polynya in the Northern Hemisphere. Okalik graciously took time to speak with us about the importance of the North Water Polynya, as well as the importance of preserving the Inuktitut language. You can read a recent article about the ICC polynea campaign here: http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/blog/posting.asp?ID=2001.
